When I read Hilaire Belloc's book, "The Cruise of the Noona,"
with its essay "On a piece of rope," I tied into his challenge,
"Why has no one written a book of verse to rope?" Gyro Poetry
International, the group with which I used to read in Greenwich
Village in the 60's, published my response to Belloc's appeal.
Knots And Their Vices explains and illustrates 39 knots
in prose and humourous verse; it is both instructional and,
hopefully, amusing.
Over a period of ten years it sold 5,500 copies, the last copy
I saw sold went for $50.00 on eBay.
